Who even cares about proofreading? ...Me.

In school, I was known as the kid who would correct everyone—even teachers. I'll admit, I didn't always do it with a spirit of love. In fact, I mostly just enjoyed being better than other people at something. As I've gotten older, though, I've come to love proofreading not to be right, but to help the work of others be better.

Language—and by extension, literacy—matters. How many people miss out on opportunities because their grammar and spelling comes across as unprofessional? ...I don't have actual statistics, but I am certain work that is clean, with words correctly spelled and phrases appropriately formed, stands a greater chance of impressing potential employers/publishers/customers/venture partners.
